Olivier Philippaerts kijkt vooruit naar Doha Nicola Philippaerts heeft het in de Verenigde Staten naar zijn zin Olivier Philippaerts stapte op dinsdag het vliegtuig op met als eindbestemming Doha. Later deze week neemt hij er deel aan de GP, de eerste grote afspraak van het seizoen. Eén week later neemt hij in datzelfde Doha deel aan de openingswedstrijd van de Longines Global Champions Tour en van de Longines Global Champions League. In 2020 won hij samen met broer Nicola Philippaerts de openingswedstrijd van de ploegencompetitie. Nicola Philippaerts verblijft al sinds half januari in de Verenigde Staten waar zich voorbereidt op het seizoen. Tweelingbroers Olivier en Nicola Philippaerts hebben veel gelijkenissen, maar als het aankomt op de voorbereiding van het seizoen hebben ze elk een totaal andere aanpak. Nicola Philippaerts kiest al jaren voor een voorbereiding in de Verenigde Staten waar hij zakendoen combineert met wedstrijden. Olivier Philippaerts zweert dan weer een voorbereiding in Oliva. Dat was dit jaar niet anders. “Naar mijn gevoel is dit een goede manier om het seizoen voor te bereiden”, zegt Olivier Philippaerts. “Ik heb alle paarden in alle lagere categorieën gereden om hen zo op een rustige manier voor te bereiden op de belangrijke wedstrijden gespreid over een volledig seizoen. Het eerste belangrijke tweeluik komt er snel aan. Volgende week vertrek ik naar Doha waar ik eerst deelneem aan de CSI5* om dan één week later deel te nemen aan de Global Tour. Met H&M Miro en Mr Idol neem ik deel aan de verschillende GP’s. Wie van hen ik opzadel voor de ploegencompetitie hangt af van de vorm die ze tijdens de eerste week tonen.” Olivier Philippaerts presteert telkens zeer sterk in Doha. In 2020 won hij samen met Nicola Philippaerts de manche van de Longines Global Champions League. Eén jaar later won hij er de openingsrubriek. In 2022 won hij met zijn nieuwe ploeg de Stockholm Hearts, het team waar ook Nicola Philippaerts deel van uitmaakt, samen met Malin Baryard-Johnsson en Peder Fredricson. “Het feit dat ik jaar na jaar zo goed presteer in Doha komt deels door de voorbereiding en de bewuste keuzes die ik dan maak”, zegt Olivier Philippaerts. “In de ploegencompetitie eindigden we vorig jaar als tweede. Dit jaar wil ik beter doen. Vooral de finale in Praag was één grote teleurstelling. Op individueel vlak is het de ambitie om me dit jaar voor het eerst voor de individuele finale te plaatsen. Een andere ambitie is om proberen dit jaar een wedstrijd van de Global Tour te winnen. Ik eindigde al enkele keren als tweede. Ik wil er dit jaar alles aan doen om die nul van het bord te vegen. Want als je tweede kan eindigen, dan kan je eigenlijk ook winnen. Ik heb vertrouwen dat die eerste zege er vroeg of laat aan zal komen. Ik maak me daar dan ook niet druk om.” Nicola Philippaerts is enkele jaren geleden voor het eerst de grote plas overgevlogen om in de Verenigde Staten zijn seizoen voor te bereiden. “We zijn toch een groot bedrijf dat eigenlijk
overal aanwezig moet zijn. De voorbije jaren hebben wij een grote groei gekend”, zegt Nicola Philippaerts. “Vandaar dat ik naar de Verenigde Staten getrokken ben. Enerzijds om zaken te doen, anderzijds om het seizoen voor te bereiden. Het bevalt me hier goed, de omstandigheden zijn prima en Katanga springt hier altijd uitstekend. Tijdens de eerste wedstrijd van het jaar sprong ze meteen foutloos. Vorige week deed ze dat opnieuw in een vijfsterrenwedstrijd. De paarden moeten hier iets meer klaar zijn dan in Oliva. Hier worden toch al hindernissen van 150 cm gesprongen. Volgend weekend is er opnieuw een CSI5* en kan Katanga opnieuw haar potentieel tonen. Ze is goed in vorm en ik hoop dat ze dat nog een tijdje kan aanhouden. Periodes van rust afgewisseld met intense trainingen en wedstrijden is voor mij qua voorbereiding een ideale mix.” Later deze week is Nicola Philippaerts er dus niet bij in Doha. Hij begint later aan zijn parcours van de Global Tour. “Het kan zijn dat we in Mexico of Miami instappen maar het kan ook nog later zijn. De definitieve planning ligt nog niet vast. Begin april keer ik terug naar België om dan in mei klaar te zijn voor de eerste grote Europese afspraak: de GP en de landenwedstrijd van Rome”, besluit Nicola Philippaerts.

Nicola Philippaerts has for years opted for preparation in the United States where he combines business with competing. For his part, Olivier Philippaerts swears by a preparation in Oliva. This year was no different. "In my opinion, this is a good way to prepare for the season", says Olivier Philippaerts. "I rode all the horses in the lower categories to calmly prepare them for the important competitions spread over a whole season. The first important competition is fast approaching. Next week I will leave for Doha where I will first participate in the CSI5* and a week later in the +. With H&M Miro and Mr Idol, I will compete in the different Grand Prix. Which of them I saddle up for the team competition depends on the form they show during the first week." Olivier Philippaerts always performs very strongly in Doha. In 2020, he won the opening leg of the Global Champions League with Nicola Philippaerts. One year later, he won the opening class. Last year he won, with his new team the Stockholm Hearts, the team that includes Nicola Philippaerts, together with Malin Baryard-Johnsson and Peder Fredricson. "That I perform so well in Doha year after year is partly due to the preparation and conscious choices I make then", says Olivier Philippaerts. "In the team competition last year we finished second. This year I want to do better. Especially the final in Prague was one big disappointment. On an individual level, the ambition is to qualify for the individual final for the first time this year. Another ambition is to try to win a Global Champions Tour competition this year. I have already come second several times. I want to do everything I can this year to wipe that zero off the board. Because if you can finish second, you can also win. I am confident that that first win will come sooner or later. So I'm not worried about that.” Nicola Philippaerts first flew across the Atlantic a few years ago to prepare his season in the United States. "After all, we are a big company that actually has to be present everywhere. In recent years, we have experienced great growth", Nicola Philippaerts says. "Herefore, I went to the States. On one side to do business and on the other to prepare for the season. I like it here,
the conditions are great and Katanga always jumps excellently here. At the first show of the year, she immediately jumped clear. Last week she did so again in a five-star class. The horses should be a bit better prepared here than in Oliva. Over here, 150 cm fences are jumped in any event. Next weekend there is another CSI5* and Katanga can show her potential again. She is in good shape and I hope she can keep that up for a while. Breaks alternated with intensive training and competitions is an ideal mix for me in terms of preparation." Later this week, Nicola Philippaerts will therefore not be in Doha. He will start the Global Champions Tour courses later. "It could be that we board in Mexico or Miami, but it could also be later. The final schedule is not decided yet. I will return to Belgium in early April to then be ready in May for the first big European appointment: the GP and Nations Cup in Rome", Nicola Philippaerts concludes.

Voor Philippaerts en Katanga is het hun eerste CSIO5* die ze samen winnen. Olivier Philippaerts (Le Blue Diamond van 't Ruytershof) reed een foutloos basisparcours maar liep daarbij twee strafpunten voor tijdoverschrijding op en eindigde als vijftiende. Afgelopen vrijdag maakten beide broers ook deel uit van het team dat als tweede eindigde in CSIO5* Nations Cup van La Baule. Een glansprestatie, zo kunnen we de zege van Nicola Philippaerts en Katanga v/h Dingeshof het best omschrijven. Na het basisparcours bleven veertien combinaties over voor de beslissende barrage. Olivier Philippaerts was daar net niet bij. Hij bleef foutloos maar was onderweg iets te traag en kreeg daarvoor twee strafpunten. Nicola Philippaerts begon als op twee na laatste aan de barrage met na hem Grégory Whatelet en Jens Fredricson. Philippaerts en Katanga bleven foutloos en reden de snelste tijd. Whatelet eindigde als tiende. Jens Fredricson beet zich de tanden stuk op de sterke tijd van Nicola Philippaerts en kwam 0.32 sec tekort voor de eindzege. Nog eens 0.09 sec verderop eindigde wereldkampioen Henrik Von Eckermann als derde. “Katanga sprong abnormaal”, begint Nicola Philippaerts zijn analyse van de GP. “Ik kan het niet anders verwoorden. Afgelopen vrijdag was ze ook al bijzonder sterk tijdens de landenwedstrijd. Die ene balk die viel was echt zo’n domme fout, eentje waar zij niets kon aan doen. We hebben samen al een mooi parcours afgelegd en mooie resultaten behaald zoals vorig jaar de derde plaats in Aken. Maar die zege die ze zo hard verdiende voor al die trainingsarbeid ontbrak nog. Wel, vandaag kunnen we onze eerste zege in een CSIO5* afvinken. Een woord van dank voor de families Adriaensens en Lens, voor mijn papa die ervoor gezorgd heeft dat ik met zo’n fantastisch paard dag in dag uit mag werken. En tot slot dikke dankjewel aan iedereen van het team Philippaerts we live Horses. Dit is een zege van het collectief.”
Olivier Philippaerts was na afloop van de GP een tikkeltje ontgoocheld. “Het is simpel: ik was gewoon twee seconden te langzaam”, zei Olivier Philippaerts achteraf. “Ik heb de tijd verkeerd ingeschat en dat kost mij de barrage. Het is heel jammer want Le Blue Diamond sprong zeer goed. Het was al een tijdje geleden dat hij nog eens op dit niveau had gesprongen, maar dat merkte je er eigenlijk niet aan. Hij heeft een goede vorm te pakken. Dat maakt het zo jammer dat ik dan zelf in de fout ga.” Tijdens de Nations Cup zadelde Olivier Philippaerts H&M Miro op. “Miro sprong goed in beide omlopen. Jammer dat er telkens één balk uit de lepels viel, maar zilver in de landenwedstrijd is een sterk resultaat.”

For Philippaerts and Katanga, it was their first win together in a CSIO5* event. Olivier Philippaerts (Le Blue Diamond van 't Ruytershof) completed a flawless round in the initial course but incurred two time faults, finishing in fifteenth place. Last Friday, both brothers were also part of the team that secured second place in the CSIO5* Nations Cup of La Baule. A remarkable performance is the best way to describe Nicola Philippaerts and Katanga v/h Dingeshof's triumph. Fourteen combinations remained for the decisive jump-off after the first round. Olivier Philippaerts narrowly missed out on qualifying, riding a clear round but being slightly slow, resulting in two timefaults. Nicola Philippaerts entered the jump-off as the third-to-last competitor, followed by Grégory Whatelet and Jens Fredricson. Philippaerts and Katanga delivered a faultless and speedy round, securing the fastest time. Whatelet finished in tenth place, while Jens Fredricson fell short by 0.32 seconds, settling for second place. Just 0.09 seconds further behind, world champion Henrik Von Eckermann claimed third place. "Katanga jumped exceptionally," Nicola Philippaerts began his analysis of the Grand Prix. "There's simply no other way to say it. She was already strong during the team competition last Friday. The one rail that fell was a studio mistake, one she couldn't control. We have already had a great journey together and achieved excellent results, such as last year's third place in Aachen. But the victory she deserved so much for all the hard work was still missing. "It's simple: I was just two seconds too slow," Olivier Philippaerts said afterwards. "I misjudged the time, and it cost me the jump-off. It's a shame because Le Blue Diamond jumped very well. It had been a while since he competed at this level, but you couldn't tell. He's in good form. That's what makes it so regrettable that I made the mistake myself." During the Nations Cup, Olivier Philippaerts rode H&M Miro. "Miro jumped well in both rounds. Uiteindelijk eindigde hij zesde en eerste Belg in de afsluitende GP, op zich nog een fantastisch resultaat. Eerder had Nicola Philippaerts met Pandora van de Kruishoeve de Youngster finale gewonnen. Thibault Philippaerts won met Pompidou van het Kuilenhof de Young Riders GP. Olivier Philippaerts en H&M Miro eindigden twee keer in de top tien. En Anthony Philippaerts maakte als jongste van de familie zijn debuut op het heilige gras van Aken. CHIO Aken 2023 werd een bijzonder succesvolle week voor de familie Philippaerts. Nicola Philippaerts bleef tijdens de Nations Cup op donderdagavond twee keer foutloos. Katanga etaleerde na de zege in La Baule eens te meer haar goede vorm en trok die lijn op zondag door tijdens de GP. Foutloos in de eerste basisomloop en foutloos in de tweede ronde. Maar dan was er die verdomde tijdstraf waardoor Nicola Philippaerts naast de barrage greep en zo niet kon meestrijden voor de oppergaai: eindwinst in Aken. Maandagochtend is de ontgoocheling nog niet weggeëbd. “We hebben als familie een fantastische week beleefd. Alles was goed. Alleen zet die laatste ronde een enorme domper op het geheel. Katanga sprong ongelofelijk goed, dit is een opdoffer”, zucht Nicola Philippaerts. “De analyse is simpel, maar o zo hard. Aan de driesprong neem ik iets meer tijd, dat is te verantwoorden. De lijn naar de laatste hindernis is lang en ik zet twee galoppassen te veel waardoor ik acht honderdsten van een seconde tekortkom om voor het tweede jaar op rij door te stoten naar de barrage. Geloof me, er zijn niet veel paarden die twee jaar na elkaar zich voor die barrage van dé wedstrijd van het jaar kunnen plaatsen. Iedereen kijkt naar die ronde, naar die dikke minuut die zo’n ronde vraagt. Maar niemand ziet de tijd, de opofferingen, de moeite, trainingsarbeid die hieraan vooraf zijn gegaan. Daar kunnen enkel Katanga en ik over oordelen. Het is zo verdomd zuur dat ik haar niet heb kunnen belonen voor al dat werk en voor die bloedvorm.” Tweelingbroer Olivier Philippaerts kon zich niet plaatsen voor de GP van zondagmiddag en dat was voor de Limburger toch wel een ontgoocheling. Met Le Blue Diamond van het Ruytershof maakte hij deel uit van het Belgische team dat brons won in de Nations Cup. Over het ganse concours eindigde Olivier maar liefst zes keer in de top tien.
“Als ik terugkijk op het voorbije concours dan hink ik toch wel op twee gedachten. Ik houd er een dubbel gevoel aan over”, begint Olivier Philippaerts zijn analyse. “De paarden hebben over het algemeen goed gesprongen, maar los daarvan heb ik me niet kunnen plaatsen voor de GP van zondagnamiddag. Ik behoor tot het team dat brons pakt, maar ook daar heb ik een springfout te veel. Ik had er toch wel wat meer van verwacht.” De prestatie van Thibault Philippaerts zondagvoormiddag ging al snel over de tongen. De 21jarige Philippaerts won met zijn paard Pompidou van het Kuilenhof de Young Riders Grote Prijs. Op vrijdag mocht Thibault Philippaerts al het podium op toen hij, eveneens met Pompidou, derde eindigde in de NetAachen-Prize. “Ik ben heel tevreden over de voorbije week. Het was de eerste keer dat ik mocht aantreden op de grote graspiste. Ik ben er zo vaak naar papa, Olivier en Nicola gaan kijken. Dat ik daar nu zelf reed én een wedstrijd kon winnen is fantastisch”, zegt Thibault Philippaerts. “Van de twee wedstrijden waaraan ik deelnam won ik er één en eindigde ik als derde in de andere. Mijn paard had nog niet zoveel ervaring, maar hij heeft dat prima gedaan. We hebben Pompidou van het Kuilenhof gekocht toen hij zeven jaar was. Pompidou komt uit het nabijgelegen Bocholt waar hij gefokt en opgegroeid is bij Jo Maesen.” Anthony Philippaerts maakte zijn debuut in Aken. Op vrijdag eindigde hij met Orchidee van Dorperheide zevende in de NetAachen-Prize. “Deelnemen aan het grootste Europese paardensportevent van het jaar op zich is een hele ervaring”, zegt Anthony Philippaerts. “Ik herinner me dat ik hier vroeger kwam supporteren voor mijn papa en voor mijn broers. Als kleine jongen droom je dan wel eens om op een dag hetzelfde te mogen doen. Die droom is vorige week uitgekomen. Die gigantische graspiste oprijden, dat doet toch wel iets met een mens. In één woord: fantastisch. Enerzijds is dat een tikkeltje stress, anderzijds is dat een gigantische eer en een beloning voor het harde werk. Ok, het was nog geen vijfsterrenwedstrijd, maar dat maakt niet uit.” Het slotwoord is voor Ludo Philippaerts. “Het is heel jammer wat Nicola en Katanga overkomen is. Voor het tweede jaar op rij konden ze zich plaatsen voor de barrage van de GP van Aken. En wie weet wat daar nog allemaal had kunnen gebeuren. Katanga heeft de vorm van haar leven te pakken. Zo’n kans krijg je niet vaak in je leven”, zegt Ludo Philippaerts. “Anderzijds behoort dit jammer genoeg tot de harde wetten van de topsport. Je mag en moet ontgoocheld zijn, maar je moet ook verder. Leren uit de fouten en beter worden. Die acht honderdsten zijn jammer, doodjammer. Maar het mag de rest van de week niet van de kaart vegen. Brons in de Nations Cup, winst voor Nicola bij de jonge paarden, winst voor Thibault bij de Youngsters, enkele top tien plaatsen voor Olivier en een zevende plaats voor Anthony. Geloof me, ook dit is uitzonderlijk. Ik ben fier op mijn zonen en iedereen die hieraan zijn of haar bijdrage heeft geleverd.”
Flawless, yet disappointed Philippaerts dominates CHIO Aachen Nicola Philippaerts and Katanga van het Dingeshof delivered four flawless rounds in both the Nations Cup and the Grand Prix at CHIO Aachen. However, despite their outstanding performance, a lingering sense of disappointment emerged afterwards. The cause of this disappointment stemmed from a single penalty point due to a time exceeding eight hundredths of a second, preventing Nicola Philippaerts from advancing to the jump-off. Despite this setback, he ultimately secured a commendable sixth place finish, becoming the top-ranked Belgian rider in the final Grand Prix—an achievement in itself. Prior to this, Nicola Philippaerts claimed victory in the Youngster Final with Pandora van de Kruishoeve. Meanwhile, Thibault Philippaerts triumphed in the Young Riders Grand Prix with his exceptional partner, Pompidou van het Kuilenhof. Olivier Philippaerts and H&M Miro secured two top-ten finishes, further highlighting their consistent performances throughout the event. Notably, Anthony Philippaerts, the youngest member of the family, made his debut on the prestigious grounds of Aachen, marking a significant milestone in his equestrian career. Overall, CHIO Aachen 2023 was an incredibly successful week for the Philippaerts family. Nicola Philippaerts delivered two flawless rounds during the Nations Cup on Thursday evening. With Katanga showcasing her exceptional form, just like with her victory in La Baule, she continued to excel during the Grand Prix on Sunday. Nicola Philippaerts and Katanga remained faultless in the first qualifying round and repeated their faultless performance in the second round. However, it was that awful time penalty that thwarted their chances of advancing to the jump-off and competing for the ultimate prize: victory in Aachen. On Monday morning, the disappointment still lingers. "As a family, we had an incredible week. Everything went well. It's just that last round that puts a huge damper on it all. Katanga jumped unbelievably well, so this is a blow," sighs Nicola Philippaerts. "The analysis is simple but so harsh. At the triple combination, I took a bit more time, and that can be justified. The line to the final obstacle was long, and I took two extra strides, resulting in falling short by eight hundredths of a second to qualify for the jump-off for the second year in a row. Believe me, there aren't many horses that can make it to the jump-off of the event of the year two years in a row. Everyone focuses on that one round, on that intense minute. But no one sees the time, the sacrifices, the effort, and the training that preceded. Only Katanga and I can judge that. It's so incredibly bitter that I couldn't reward her for all that work and for being in such great form." Twin brother Olivier Philippaerts was unable to qualify for the Sunday afternoon Grand Prix, and that was certainly a disappointment for him. With Le Blue Diamond van het Ruytershof,
he was part of the Belgian team that secured the bronze medal in the Nations Cup. Throughout the entire competition, Olivier achieved an impressive total of six top-ten finishes. "As I reflect on the past competition, I find myself torn between two sentiments. I have mixed feelings," begins Olivier Philippaerts. "Overall, the horses performed well, but aside from that, I couldn't secure a spot in the Sunday afternoon Grand Prix. While I am part of the team that won bronze, I also had one too many jumping faults. I had expected more from myself." The performance of Thibault Philippaerts on Sunday morning quickly became the talk of the town. The 21-year-old Philippaerts marked his debut very well and claimed victory in the Young Riders Grand Prix riding his horse Pompidou van het Kuilenhof. On Friday, Thibault Philippaerts already stood on the podium when he finished third in the NetAachen-Prize, also with Pompidou. "I am extremely pleased with the results from last week. It was the first time I had the opportunity to compete on the prestigious grass arena. I have watched my father, Olivier, and Nicola perform there so many times. To now be riding there myself and even winning a competition is fantastic," says Thibault Philippaerts. "Out of the two competitions I participated in, I won one and finished third in the other. My horse didn't have much experience, but he performed brilliantly. We purchased Pompidou van het Kuilenhof when he was seven years old. Pompidou comes from nearby Bocholt, where he was bred and raised by Jo Maesen." Just like his brother Thibault, Anthony Philippaerts made his debut in Aachen. On Friday, he finished seventh in the NetAachen-Prize riding Orchidee van Dorperheide. "Participating in Europe’s largest equestrian event of the year is an incredible experience," shares Anthony Philippaerts. "I remember coming here as a young boy to cheer for my father and my brothers. You often dream of being able to do the same one day. That dream came true last week. Riding onto that massive grass arena truly evokes emotions. In one word: fantastic. On one hand, it brings a touch of stress, but on the other hand, it's an immense honor and a reward for all the hard work. Sure, it may not have been a five-star competition, but that doesn't diminish its significance." In closing, Ludo Philippaerts shares his thoughts. "It is very unfortunate what happened to Nicola and Katanga. For the second year in a row, they were able to qualify for the jump-off of the Aachen Grand Prix. And who knows what could have happened there. Katanga is in the form of her life. You don't often get such an opportunity in your lifetime," says Ludo Philippaerts. "On the other hand, unfortunately, this is part of the realities of top-level sports. You can and should be disappointed, but you also have to move on. Learn from the mistakes and become better. Those eight hundredths of a second are a shame, a real shame. But it must not overshadow the rest of the week. Bronze in the Nations Cup, a victory for Nicola in the young horses category, a victory for Thibault in the Youngsters, several top ten placements for Olivier, and a seventh place for Anthony. Believe me, this is exceptional too. I am proud of my sons and everyone who has contributed to this success."

Uiteraard ben ik ongelofelijk blij met al die foutloze omlopen van het voorbije weekend die resulteerden naar een zege bij de teams en een tweede plaats in de GP. Ludo: I am indeed still often the point of contact but I would like to divide the tasks towards the future. I usually do the buying of the horses. The intention is for Nicola and Olivier to become more and more involved in sales. I am less and less involved with their show jumping and training. Thibault started in the company this year, he limits himself mainly to riding horses, but as far as I am concerned he can also get a little more involved in the business. Talent Ludo: I focused on breeding for a while. But in the last five years we have greatly reduced breeding and focused much more on six- and seven-year-old show jumpers. At the moment, for example, we have 33 (!) talented seven-year-olds and 28 (!) sixyear-old horses in our stables. That is a conscious choice because we cannot do everything. And breed. We employ one teammember who does nothing but scout horses. I myself am also very often on the road looking for and watching horses. Buying horses, I think, has a lot to do with feeling. It is difficult for me to explain why I buy one horse and not another, but I often make the right descision. Last week I was in Sweden watching and buying horses. From Milan after the European Championships, I flew on to Fontainebleau in France, where we bought four horses. Nicola Philippaerts op het podium in Verona Nicola Philippaerts en zijn paard Katanga v/h Dingeshof zijn in de wereldbekermanche van Verona als derde geëindigd. De combinatie bleef zowel in het basisparcours als in de barrage foutloos. De zege was voor Ben Maher (Dallas Vegas Batilly) die 0.15 sec sneller was dan de Zwitser Steve Guerdat (Venard de Cerisy). Nicola Philippaerts volgde op 1.55 sec. Olivier Philippaerts en H&M Legend of Love lieten tijdens het basisparcours twee balken uit de lepels vallen en eindigden als 23e. Nicola Philippaerts en Olivier Philippaerts reisden eerder deze week af naar het Italiaanse Verona om deel te nemen aan de wereldbeker. Voor de Philippaerts broers was het hun eerste wereldbekermanche van het jaar. Nicola Philippaerts maakte zondagnamiddag meteen indruk en sprong met zijn dertienjarige merrie Katanga v/h Dingeshof naar een mooie derde plaats. “De twee maanden rust hebben Katanga goedgedaan. Twee weken geleden ben ik met haar naar Sentower getrokken en toen had ik er al een goed gevoel bij. Vandaag sprong ze heel goed. Met die vorm kunnen we opnieuw beginnen bouwen voor de rest van het seizoen. Volgende week gaat ze mee naar de finale van de Global Champions League in Praag”, zegt Nicola Philippaerts. Aan zijn derde plaats houdt Nicola Philippaerts 15 punten over. In de tussenstand na vier manches staat hij zestiende. Olivier Philippaerts kwalificeerde zich op zaterdag met een zevende plaats met zijn hengst Le Blue Diamond van 't Ruytershof voor de GP van zondagnamiddag. Voor die GP zadelde hij H&M Legend of Love op. “Eigenlijk sprong Legend goed hoor. Ik ben tevreden over haar vorm”, blikt Olivier Philippaerts terug. “De eerste fout die we maken is een rijfout. Vanaf dat moment probeerde ik met een snelle tijd toch nog een goed resultaat te behalen. Je neemt dan wat meer risico’s en dan weet je dat die tweede balk kan vallen, wat ook gebeurde.” Later deze week reist Olivier met H&M Miro af naar Praag waar hij zich vrijdag, samen met zijn broer en de andere teamleden van de Stockholm Hearts, wil kwalificeren voor de grote finale van zondag. Thibault Philippaerts eindigde zondagnamiddag met Jumper D'Oase 28e in de GP van Maastricht. Op vrijdag eindigde hij met Jumper D'Oase derde in de kwalificatie voor de GP van zondagnamiddag. Eerder op de dag eindigde Thibault met Pompidou van het Kuilenhof derde in de CSI4*. Anthony Philippaerts was de voorbije dagen aan de slag in Peelbergen. Zondagnamiddag lieten hij en Orchidee Van Dorperheid tijdens de CSI2* GP twee balken uit de lepels vallen, goed voor de 33e plaats.
